Abstract:
This article overviews the results of the bibliographic study and of the experimental research on the physical properties of the seeds of fodder galega, Galega orientalis Lam., and Virginia mallow, Sida hermaphrodita Rusby: fractional distribution, morphological structure and friability represented by the angle of repose α and the angle of friction α1. The measurements were taken according to standard methods. The analysis of the obtained results shows that the seeds of fodder galega and Virginia mallow differ from the seeds of field crops and vegetables in fractional distribution and morphological structure, but the friability of the studied seeds, which according to the morphological structure belong to the category of elliptical seeds, is high and the angle α is in the range α=30.7°-33.0°. These peculiarities allow the use of existing buildings and technical means in the agri-food sector, in technological processes of cultivation, handling and processing of seeds of fodder galega and Virginia mallow.
