Abstract:
The ways of expanding the application of nanocrystalline electrolytic FeW alloys in the presence of multilayers and of an oil lubricant have been investigated. It is shown that the friction in the presence of lubricants can reduce the coefficient of friction and the penetration of oxygen into sliding pairs, thereby improving wear resistance behaviour of FeW coatings as compared to their behaviour at dry friction, where the surface tribo-oxidation is the dominating process. The electrodeposition of multilayer coatings FeW/Cu from a single bath is shown to be possible, and their tribological and mechanical properties are investigated. It is demonstrated that multilayers also lead to an improvement of wear resistance characteristics of the coatings, even at dry friction and a relatively high normal load of 10 N.
