The article examines the crisis of historical progress in the context of the accelerated development of artificial intelligence, drawing on the philosophical analysis proposed by Yuval Noah Harari. Starting from the modern foundations of progress articulated by Immanuel Kant, G. W. F. Hegel, and Émile Durkheim, the study highlights the normative and teleological status historically attributed to progress. Twentieth-century critiques and the exhaustion of progressive metanarratives provide the framework within which Harari interprets progress as a contingent narrative, sustained by collective fictions and lacking moral guarantees. In the age of artificial intelligence, the delegation of decision-making to algorithms and the concentration of informational power intensifies the decoupling of technological development from moral progress, transforming progress from a historical certainty into a fragile possibility dependent on critical reflection and ethical institutions.
