Abstract:
The article examines the transformation of the Republic of Moldova’s logistics supply chains resulting from the military crisis in Ukraine. It analyzes how disrupted transport routes and the closure of traditional trade corridors (such as the Port of Odesa) have affected road, rail, river, and other modes of transportation. The study highlights key geographical and sectoral shifts: a notable increase in pressure on Moldova’s transport infrastructure-especially in the southern region (the Giurgiulești port) and at border crossings with Romania; the redirection of foreign trade flows from eastern to western routes; and business adaptation through the diversification of suppliers and markets. The article concludes that the conflict in Ukraine has accelerated Moldova’s integration into European logistics corridors, revealing both vulnerabilities and new opportunities, and offers forecasts and recommendations in light of Ukraine’s reconstruction and the need to strengthen Moldova’s transport and logistics resilience.
