Every generalized monoid ring is definable by a D-structure

Abstract

A system of mappings called a D-structure associated with a ring A with identity and a monoid G can be used to define a generalization of the monoid ring of G over A. It is shown that every ring that can reasonably be described as a generalized monoid ring is definable in this way. The D-structures that define subnormalizing extensions are also characterized.
