Abstract:
This article analyzes the nature of the change in the value of the necessary visibility distance for safe overtaking, depending on the speed of the cars: swift, slow and oncoming . The results obtained allow us to draw the following conclusions: 1) if the speeds of the swift and oncoming cars are equal and the speed of the slow car is 70 km / h, the visibility distance at overtaking increases with decreasing speeds of the swift and oncoming cars and, conversely, if the speed of the slow car is 50 km / h, the visibility distance at overtaking decreases with decreasing speed values of the swift and oncoming cars; 2) the value of the visibility distance during overtaking varies within wide limits (from 671 to 1847 m), depending on the speed of the vehicles.
