dc.description.abstract Celtis occidentalis L. is a promising species for increasing the stability and longevity of forest plantations in the Republic of Moldova. The forests under study are scattered in the eastern and south-eastern part of the Republic of Moldova, consisting of the territory of the forestry park: Anenii Noi, Causeni, Criuleni, Harbovat, Olanesti, and Bacioi township, which total an area of 1152.9 ha from 321 management units. The aim of this work was to identify the ecological conditions in the Republic of Moldova in which the common hackberry grows and the basis for measures to enrich the assortment of species for the resilience of the forest floor to climate change. The objectives of the research were to obtain an assessment as close as possible to reality of the common hackberry resources as well as the distribution of this species on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, by means of data collected during the field phase and from forest-based amenity. The average mass of 100 ripened common hackberry fruit was 28.65 g and the same number of seeds weighed 13.49 g. The average fruit diameter was 7.47 mm and 5.21 mm for seeds. en_US
