dc.description.abstract In order to rationally use land resources and agricultural machinery, to apply the achievements of science to production, and modernize orchard management systems, highly qualified specialists in agriculture have always been needed. The development of viticulture and fruit growing in Moldova has led to the creation of several educational institutions in this area, namely: the Horticulture and Winemaking School of lower level in Cetatea Alba (1892); the Horticulture School of second level (1842); the Winemaking School of second level (1890); the Agricultural School of first level in Purcari (1891); the School of first level in Grinauti (1893); the Agricultural School of first level in Kukuruzeni (1893); the Kostiujeni Experimental Station (1909); the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Iasi, headquartered in Chisinau (1933); the Faculty of Viticulture (1940); the Faculty of Horticulture and Vegetable Growing, Viticulture and Winemaking (1944); the Faculty of Horticulture and Viticulture (1948); the Department of Horticulture and Forestry; the Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences (2022). The article is dedicated to many generations of fruit growers who have contributed significantly to the development of fruit farming in the Republic of Moldova. The modern development of fruit farming and the history of the Horticultural Society of the Republic of Moldova are also briefly described. The material is based on works devoted to the subject of fruit growing. en_US
