Abstract:
Managing environmental data is a very difficult task, as this process is very expensive in terms of resources. One solution to these challenges would be time series databases (TSDBs), whose role is to efficiently store and analyze data essential for environmental research. TSDBs allow monitoring of environmental changes such as temperature, pollution, water quality, and allow rapid inference of disaster treatment options and real-time data analysis. Examples of applications in real-world research include monitoring climate change, energy consumption, water quality, volcanic activity, and natural disaster prediction. Among the most popular TSDBs are InfluxDB, Prometheus and TimescaleDB.
