Abstract:
The Pension System reform in the Republic of Moldova is inevitable. The need for this reform is determined by various factors, such as demographic, economic, and social. This paper tries to answer the following questions: 1) Is the decision that the retirement age in 2028 should be equal for men and women, demographically argued or not? 2) What is the way of re-examining the pensions of working retirees? For this purpose, the method of analysis of the scientific literature was applied. The results show that setting the standard retirement age of 63 for men and women demographically is not justified. Moreover, in order to respect the principle of equity for all categories of pensioners with a contribution period of 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, etc. depending on the actual length of life, it is proposed to remove the subjective limit of the right to review pensions.
