Abstract:
Every country is looking for a solution for its energy situation. For that reason energy crops, which are characterized by sufficient energy yield, lower costs and well known chemical composition, are considered being very promising. Selected energy crops of high interest such as Miscanthus, Giant knotweed, Giant reed, Hemp and Sweet sorghum were cultivated in Czech Republic and in the Republic of Moldova in order to determine and compare the maximum potential (theoretical) energy yield. All of the above mentioned plants were grown under natural conditions without additional inputs. The comparison of perennial and annual crops is provided in this study as well.
