dc.description.abstract This study investigates the effects of copper (II) coordination compounds with thiosemicarbazones (Cu-CCTs) on oxidative stress markers and the antioxidant system in erythrocytes through an in vivo experiment. Methods: 120 rats (Rattus norvegicus albinus) were divided into 10 groups, further split into male and female subgroups. The control group received saline solution, while the other groups received 10 μg/kg of Cu-CCTs subcutaneously for 30 days. Results: Cu-CCTs induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation and stimulated antioxidant defences, as evidenced by changes in malondialdehyde (MDA), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione-related enzymes. Additionally, partial modulation of cell growth and apoptosis was inferred through the observed oxidative/antioxidative shifts - though further targeted assays are needed to confirm these mechanisms. Conclusions: Cu-CCTs exert a dual effect, elevating some pro-oxidant markers while simultaneously enhancing antioxidant responses, suggesting potential therapeutic relevance in conditions involving oxidative stress. en_US
