dc.description.abstract The effects of the combination of muscular load and emotional stress on the characteristics of exploratory behavior and stress resistance of rats in the “open field” were investigated. The rats were divided into two groups: the animals of the first group were stressed by forced swimming “forced swim test” for 7 days for 60 min; the rats of the second group were subjected to short-term deprivation of freedom of movement in cages-pennels corresponding to the body size of animals for 7 days for 60 min. The nature of the stressor was found to influence exploratory behavior and stress resistance of rats in the “open field”. Forced swimming induces a significant decrease in indices characterizing exploratory behavior and reduces the stress tolerance of animals when tested again in the open field. Muscular load aimed at release from the aversive situation does not affect locomotor activity and stress resistance during repeated testing in the „open field”. en_US
