Abstract:
Academician Ioan Anton (18 July 1924, Vintere, Bihor - 12 April 2011, Timişoara)
is the most prominent personality of the technical and academic body from Timisoara city of
the second half of twentieth century. The paper begins with historical data upon the
Politechnical School of Timişoara and the period when Ioan Anton has completed his studies
in engineering here. After his admission as a teacher (1948) at Mechanical Engineering
Faculty, Hydraulic Machines Department, there were emphasized the scientific and didactic
activities, as well as administrative work at local or national level. The conclusions aim to
highlight the role of Professor Ioan Anton upon perpetuating and strengthening the quality of
teaching, on research, academic continuity and orientation; his actions consolidated the need
of models in education and redefined the successfulness of study on the path of high
intellectual competence and originality.
