Abstract:
An important moment in the history of recording and playing back the sounds is the
sound recording on a steel wire. Starting from Oberlin Smith’s idea, the danish engineer
Valdemar Poulsen (1869-1942) invents telegraphone (in 1890), the first machine that made
magnetic recording on steel wire. In 1925, the german inventor Curt Stille (1873-1957)
perfected the invention of the scientist Valdemar Poulsen, developing a magnetic recording
device called mnemophon, one of the precursors of the tape recorder.
