Abstract:
This course support is intended for students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, specialty 0841.1 Veterinary Medicine, and provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of biochemistry essential for understanding vital processes in the animal organism. The material covers key topics such as the structure and function of biomolecules, enzyme activity, and the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids, as well as the roles of vitamins, hormones, and mineral elements in regulating metabolic pathways. Through its coherent structure and systematic presentation, the course offers a solid theoretical foundation necessary for interpreting biochemical processes underlying animal health and disease. A particular emphasis is placed on the practical relevance of biochemistry in veterinary medicine, highlighting its importance in clinical diagnostics, the understanding of pathogenic mechanisms, nutritional assessment, and the basis of therapeutic interventions. This course support serves as an essential tool for both independent study and integration of biochemical knowledge within clinical and paraclinical disciplines, contributing significantly to the development of core competencies required of future veterinary practitioners.
