dc.description.abstract The biological role of selenium was discovered in 1957 by K. Schwarz and Foletz M. (1958). It has been observed that Se is a component of factor 3, which is found in yeast and possess a therapeutic effect on hepatic necrosis in rats. Today it is known that in case of insufficiency in Se, can be triggered about 20 diseases that are characterized by dysfunction of blood microcirculation and by increasing the permeability on capillary and cell membrane level. Selenium enters the body through the consumption of animal feeding stuffs and water in two forms: 1. inorganic-form of Selenate (H2SeO4 selenic acid salt), Selenite (H2SeO3 selenious acid salt) and Selenide (selenhidric acid salt); 2. Organic - selenium-containing proteins and amino acids (selenomethionine and selenocysteine). en_US
