Abstract:
This paper reviews the situation in the Republic of Moldova regarding avian influenza infections in wild and domestic birds from January 2022 to September 2024. The study reflects that during the 3 years, were examinated 38210 samples to establish predominantly serotype combination H5N1 of the influnece virus. The basis of the undertaken study were the results of laboratory tests of biological samples of pathological material, collected from domestic birds from private households, kept in captivity or free and from birds from wildlife from various geographical areas of the Republic of Moldova. The results of study demonstrates the interaction between wild and domestic migratory birds, the spread of HPAI H5N1 leading to high mortalities and economic losses in the private sector. The conducted research demonstrated a incidence of spreading of avian flu on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, constituting in 2022 with 23 outbreaks of avian flu, 89 outbreaks in 2023, and in the first 9 months of the 2024 year were identified 38 new outbreaks.
