Abstract:
This study aimed to evaluate the total antioxidant capacity (TAC-cuprac) in correlation with the level of endogenous intoxication products, the level of advanced oxidation protein products of and the level of advanced glycation end products, in dairy cows during the transition period. The TAC-cuprac and the indices of endogenous intoxication (MMM and NS) changed significantly after calving, expressing themselves by increasing the values. Plasma concentrations of these parameters, at 10 days postpartum, increased by 15%, 22% and 18%, respectively, compared to the pre-partum level. At the 3rd investigation, the level of these parameters decreases by about 17.5-20.2% compared to the previous one, reaching slightly below the ante-partum values by 8.0%, 2.0% and 2.8 %, respectively. The other indices, AOPP and AGEs had a tendency to increase gradually compared to the ante partum level, reaching the rate of 14% and 38.2%, respectively, at the last research, a fact that can be explained by the increase in metabolic intensity with the start of milk secretion.
