Abstract

This is an educational resource for students in Design to help them improve and develop the language skills they need to succeed in a professional work environment. It covers topics such as shapes, colors, fonts, layouts, sketches and drawings, desktop publishing, art movements, and the process of making logos. The units in the book include vocabulary and contexts relevant to the design students in the four key language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The elaboration offers a wide range of topic-related vocabulary and phrases, as well as interactive situations through which students can develop various soft skills such as pair and group work, time management, critical thinking, debating, project work, etc... The units include reading with comprehension exercises, vocabulary that is reinforced through oral production, and pair work where students simulate real-life situations in a professional environment. It is suitable for learners at pre-intermediate and intermediate targeting various areas in the industry of design.
