Procedeul include scurtarea pomului după plantare şi suprimarea mugurilor de pe trunchi la înălţimea de 40…50 cm cu orbirea a 2…3 muguri axiali situaţi sub doi muguri terminali, suprimarea lăstarului de prelungire a axului cu ciupirea vârfului lăstarului concurent; selectarea unei ramuri verticale pentru viitorul ax central şi a 3…4 ramuri pentru viitoarele şarpante de la baza coroanei pomului; viitoarele şarpante se scurtează la 60 cm de la baza lor, iar axul central − la 20 cm mai sus de vârful şarpantelor; tăierea axului central la 30…40 cm de la baza şarpantei superioare deasupra unei ramuri laterale.
