dc.description.abstract This paper aims to present the results of studying some peculiarities of diploid and tetraploid maize forms containing opaque-2(o2) gene used in maize breeding programs for grain protein quality. Tetraploid o2 forms were shorter in size and had thicker stems and internodes, panicles had thicker branches, especially the central one, but the number of branches and leaf width was genotype specific. Tetraploid ears showed reduced fertility and higher grains weight than diploids. Biochemical analysis revealed a higher protein and lower lipid and starch content in tetraploid kernels as compared to diploid ones. en_US
