Abstract:
The article presents the results of a study focused on the estimation of direct N2 O emissions from application of nitrogen synthetic and organic fertilisers to soils in the Republic of Moldova during the 1985-2005, for being included in the national inventory of greenhouse gases in the frame of Second National Communication (SNC) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The methodologies used are based on the Good Practice Guidance and Uncertainty Management in National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (IPCC, 2000) and IPCC 2006 Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (IPCC, 2006). The obtained results revealed that during the 1985-2005 period the direct N2 O emissions from nitrogen synthetic and organic fertilisers applied to soils have reduced by 93.7%, from 3.7367 kt to 0.2351 kt. This situation is due to the significant reduction within the period of the total amount of nitrogen synthetic and organic fertilisers intentionally applied to soils.
