dc.description.abstract Analysing the variability in the anatomical structure of trees is crucial for understanding wood adaptation to environmental conditions. Annual tree rings serve as vital data sources for studying climate variability. Once formed, the anatomical structure of wood remains stable, allowing its characteristics to provide intra-annual resolution insights into auxological growth processes within the context of climate change. However, significant methodological challenges persist in sample preparation and the generation of anatomical parameter time series. This study addresses these challenges by presenting various methodological approaches in quantitative wood anatomy, with a specific focus on the collection, processing, and analysis of beech and oak samples. The study concludes in a unified methodology applicable across the fields of ecophysiology and quantitative wood anatomy. Furthermore, it supports the advancement of pioneering dendrochronological research employing cellular parameters of beech and oak wood. en_US
