Abstract:
Efficiency of exploiting the productive potential of swine genetic resources requires the identification of decisive factors that would influence the reproductive and productive capacity of the pigs and especially the prolificity and weight of the piglets at birth. Starting from this finding, the question arises as to how to obtain high-weight piglets at birth, without diminishing the prolificity of the sows. For this, it is actual and important to initiate a study to determine the factors that may have a direct effect on the weight of the piglets at birth. A determining criterion is the thickness of the fat layer of breeding sows of different genetic swine types.
