The activity of university libraries in the context of open education

Abstract

University libraries are constantly developing and diversifying their services and products to adapt to the changing landscape of higher education concerning Open Education initiatives. The role of the librarian is steadily evolving. Objective of the study is to examine the role of libraries in supporting Open Education and the objectives are focused on assessing the possibilities of expanding the range of services inspired by the Open Education movement and developing librarians’ skills. The study was based on the analysis of trends, developments and experiences of libraries activating in other countries regarding services provided in support of Open Education and the new opportunities to involve the university librarians from the Republic of Moldova in Open Education.

Bibliotecile universitare își dezvoltă și îşi îmbogățesc serviciile și produsele pentru a se adapta la peisajul în schimbare al învățământului superior, privind inițiativele Educației Deschise. Rolul bibliotecarului este în continuă evoluție. Scopul lucrării - examinarea rolului bibliotecilor în susținerea Educației Deschise, iar obiectivele țin de evaluarea posibilităților de extindere a ofertei de servicii inspirate de mișcarea ED și de dezvoltare a competenţelor profesionale. Studiul s-a bazat pe analiza tendințelor, evoluțiilor și a experiențelor bibliotecilor din alte țări, privind serviciile furnizate în susținerea Educației Deschise și a noilor posibilități de implicare a bibliotecarilor din bibliotecile universitare din Republica Moldova în Educația Deschisă.
