dc.description.abstract The analysis of a company's performance plays a decisive role in determining the strategy to be followed, all the more so at a time of economic and financial crisis for forestry companies. The assessment of performance differences depends on the nature of the enterprise and the system of instruments used in asset management, which necessarily requires the existence of analysis to know their economic and financial status, on the one hand, and, on the other, to base decisions and monitor their implementation. The non-parametric DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) method is commonly used and easy to implement to estimate the efficiency frontier. The method involves estimating an efficiency frontier based on empirical data and calculating efficiency scores of all units in the sample relative to this frontier. The aim of this research is to use the DEA method to identify solutions to improve the performance of scientific reserves in the Republic of Moldova and how to use the available resources to achieve the best results. The specific objectives underlying the structure of the article are: to identify the current state of knowledge on the performance of the enterprises studied; to identify and exploit the financial and forestry-technical indicators used to determine and evaluate performance; to develop an econometric tool to quantify performance at the level of science reserves. The DEA method was used to inform the decision-making process with regard to action on indicators that are important for increasing the performance of science reserves. Using the DEA method, we were able to rank the enterprises of the analysed sample and establish correlations between the matrix indicators (31 financial variables and 39 forestry variables). The results demonstrated that the DEA method can be used to assess the management performance of science reserves. en_US
